Amazing news! After a very challenging session marked by ongoing Republican walkouts, the Climate Resilience Package passed both chambers over the weekend and is headed to Governor Kotek’s desk. Communities across the state will now benefit from vastly expanded access to clean energy, efficiency, and resiliency programs that will keep Oregonians safe and healthy through all sorts of weather, cut energy bills, protect our climate, and create family-sustaining jobs. Spark Northwest will be active in the implementation process to ensure that the new programs and funds reach low-income, BIPOC, rural, and otherwise marginalized and climate-impacted communities across the state.
We are deeply grateful for Senate President Wagner, Speaker Rayfield, the prime sponsors (Representatives Marsh, Khanh Pham, Rayfield, and Senators Dembrow, Golden, and Lieber) and all the legislators, staff, and advocates who made this moment possible.
