USDA Rural Energy for America Program (REAP)

What is REAP

The Rural Energy for America Program (REAP), funded by USDA Rural Development, accelerates renewable energy adoption and energy efficiency upgrades in rural America. REAP provides competitive grants and loan guarantees to agricultural producers and rural small businesses for clean energy projects, covering up to 25% of eligible project costs.

  • Agricultural producers and rural small businesses operating in eligible rural areas.
  • Projects must primarily serve business/commercial use (at least 50% of energy usage).
  • Short-term residential use related to business activities (e.g., lodges, hotels) may be eligible; long-term residential use is not.
