Washington: One Month into Session

Dear friends,

We’re one month into the Washington legislative session, and it’s already been a whirlwind of hearings, amendments and votes! We’re very pleased that The Solar Energy Resiliency Act (HB 1427) is in the House Rules committee. Also, what’s been referred to as, The Navigator Bill (HB 1391) has been referred to House Appropriations with many of our suggestions incorporated through amendments. This bill would help Washingtonians navigate the myriad of new state and federal funding for heat pumps and weatherization.

We’re closely following another bill that would help prevent utility nonpayment shutoffs during extreme heat. We’re happy to report that SB 5366/HB 1329 (identical versions are in the Senate and House) is moving forward and is now in each chamber’s Rules committee.

We’ll continue to keep you updated with actions and news as the session unfolds.
