Dear *|FNAME|*,

As the pace of life picks up this summer, projects at Spark Northwest are picking up too. From affordable housing in Oregon, to a Baptist church in Tacoma, to rural schools in Whatcom County, locally-generated clean energy is strengthening communities, transferring wealth, and building resiliency.

This year marks 20 years of Spark Northwest, and we look forward to the next 20 years of partnering with communities to build an equitable clean energy future. We hope to gather for an in-person celebration later in the year- stay tuned for those plans. Meanwhile, we are moving forward with groundbreaking projects that will make an excellent year for clean energy in our region. We’re excited to share these updates on those programs with you.

Sincerely,

Andrea Axel- Executive Director

Shiloh Baptist- Officially Solar!

Last Friday marked the ribbon cutting ceremony and official first day of solar power for Tacoma’s Shiloh Baptist Church. Spark Northwest was recognized for its support throughout the project, including technical assistance and pathways to funding.

As an additional part of the project, installer Edwin Wanji will be leading several workshops introducing interested community members to solar. The first one was recently featured on the Tacoma Report! Watch the impact of the project so far.

Solar Panels for the Future

Lummi Nation School recently completed installation of its new 50kW solar energy system! With grant writing and technical assistance by Spark Northwest, the project is fiscally sponsored by the Lhaq’temish Foundation and funded by Puget Sound Energy’s Green Power Program customers. The system will be an important resource for integrating social studies, biology, math, environmental science and other disciplines with applications in real-time. In time, these technical skills will translate to jobs in clean energy, one of the fastest growing industries in the country.
