Summary

August 15 Deadline to Express Interest!

Spark Northwest works with frontline communities to catalyze clean energy solutions and build local power.

For over twenty years Spark Northwest has worked closely with rural, Indigenous, and community-based groups to accelerate the transition to clean energy. Our practical, hands-on approach is customized to meet each community’s interest, readiness level and clean energy goals. We also advocate for policy solutions that advance energy justice our region.

We currently have twelve people on staff and ten board members. We are deeply committed to putting equity at the center of our mission. If you are passionate about clean energy and its potential to make our region more fair and just, we hope you will consider joining us!

Board Service Expectations (approx. 2-3 hours per month)

  • Board members provide financial oversight and strategic direction to Spark Northwest.
  • Board meetings are held four times per year: March, June, September, and December. They are usually two hours long and are a combination of online and hybrid.
  • Each board member is asked to serve on either a standing committee: (Governance, External Engagement, or Finance) or an ad hoc task force (examples include Evaluation & Metrics, Contingency Planning, Community Connection). These committees or task forces usually meet once between board meetings.
  • Board members typically serve two-year terms, with an option to renew for a max of six years.
  • We value contributions of time, ideas, strategic connections and creative energy in furthering Spark Northwest’s programs. Financial contribution is encouraged, but not required for board service.
