Our new Executive Director

Dear friends,

On behalf of Spark Northwest’s Board of Directors, I am thrilled to share that Andrea Axel has been selected and hired as our new Executive Director.

Andrea wowed us with her enthusiasm, can-do approach, track record and vision. We are confident that Andrea’s experience and passion for clean energy and social equity make her the right candidate to lead Spark Northwest, building on our foundation and priorities.

Andrea grew up in Oregon and has lived in Washington State for over twenty years. She is a lawyer by profession and knows how to advocate for systematic change. For the past twelve years, Andrea oversaw grant programs at the Legal Foundation of Washington and took a leadership role in their equity work, communications and external stakeholder management. She has a wealth of knowledge about how to manage and grow programs, and cultivated large scale public-private partnerships, collaborating with state and local government to align strategy for maximum impact. Andrea holds a J.D. from the University of Michigan and a B.A. from Stanford University.

In Andrea’s words, “I’m thrilled to join Spark Northwest! I understand the importance of working directly with communities most impacted by climate change to develop solutions. I look forward to getting to know Spark Northwest’s stakeholders to hear perspectives about how we can most effectively make our communities cleaner and healthier for future generations.”

I hope you will join with Spark Northwest’s staff and Board of Directors in welcoming Andrea to our organization. We look forward to introducing her to you over the coming months. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have questions. Thank you for your continued partnership to make affordable clean energy more accessible to all. Here’s to our bright future!
