Solarize U Webinar
January 15, 10am-11am

Solarize Community Group Purchasing campaigns for solar PV have created jobs, unleashed consumer spending, and spread solar energy on rooftops from Seattle to San Diego. This introductory webinar will present the basics of running a Solarize campaign in Washington, with lessons from Northwest SEED, authors of “The Solarize Guidebook.” Local governments, community organizers, utilities, and anyone with an interest in unleashing the power of solar group purchasing will learn about the basics of launching a Solarize campaign in their own communities.

Join Northwest SEED’s Linda Irvine to learn about the Solarize model in Washington State. This webinar is made possible with support from the Bullitt Foundation.

Solarize U Workshop
January 25, 10am-1pm

Northwest SEED is excited to host Solarize U: Training for Solar Group Purchasing.  Building on the success of our Solarize campaigns, Northwest SEED is training other communities to spread the power of solar group purchasing across the state. Participants will learn how to launch a group purchase campaign in their own community, helping to make solar photovoltaics more affordable and accessible than ever!

Solarize U is designed to build the capacity of local leaders, nonprofit organizations, municipal governments, and electric utilities to support a local Solarize campaign.  The training will provide an overview of the Solarize model, solar technology and incentives, and best practices for running your own campaign.  At the networking lunch, participants can connect with potential allies and begin campaign planning with the guidance of Northwest SEED staff.

The Training includes:

  • Principles of a Solarize Campaign
  • Solar PV Basics
  • Launching Your Solar Group Purchase Campaign
  • Lessons Learned from Solarize Washington
  • Networking Lunch

The training cost of $20 will include participation in the training, a participant workbook with exercises and take-home references, access to Solarize outreach & education templates, and a catered lunch.

Please note: This training is intended for individuals, neighborhood groups, nonprofits, city staff, and utilities that want to help launch solar group purchase campaigns in their own communities.  It is not intended for individuals that want to learn more about putting solar on their personal residence.

Training attendees will walk away with the skills, materials, connections, and know-how they need to launch a Solarize campaign in their community.

Solarize U: is made possible by a grant from the Bullitt Foundation, with support from PNNL, itek Energy, Hire Electric, and the City of Richland.

Northwest Solar Summit
May 2, 5pm-May 3, 5pm

The Washington State Solar Summit has historically been the venue to bring together all of the stakeholders in the Washington State solar industry. This includes: experienced solar Contractors and Installers, Architects, Engineers, Project mangers, Utility representatives, sales persons, environmentalist, and the impassioned advocates.

Each year these groups have come together to discuss and create solutions to the unique issues they face promoting and expanding the use of solar energy in Washington.

This year’s summit will be no different and the event has never been more important. With the sunset of the Washington State Solar incentives rapidly approaching the industry faces a major hurdle to its continued growth.

This year’s summit taking place May 2nd and 3rd includes a Friday night reception to bring old industry friends together and for new connections to be made. Saturday will be the work day where individuals representing their respective stakeholders group will present on what they see as the best future for solar in Washington after 2020.
